I.01S KAHIIISII The Baptist Woniens Missionary Circle Two of the Vaiden Church met Monday and Tuesday in the home of Mrs. Rosa Wade. Most of the members were present for these two meetings. This was the week of prayer study with emphasis on the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Bill Bullard of Winona visited at the Vaiden Baptist Church last Sunday and rendered the special music at the morning worship hour.

Sunday evening Mr. Bullard led the song service at the worship hour and also entertained at the fellowship after services. We were happy to have him in our services and are looking forward to seeing him some more. The Carroll County Associational Night was held at the Vaiden Baptist Church last Monday night. The sanctuary was overflowing with both adults and young people.

It was a split service, one for adults and one for the youth. Bro. Blann from Mathiston, and a group of young people from Mississippi State brought the music, led by Ronnie Hunsinger, Kilmichael music director. Guest speaker for the adults was Rev. Eugene Dobbs, pastor of McLaurin Baptist church in Jackson.

Bro. Blann was guest speaker for the young people. Charles Huggins, Associational Training Union Director presented the attendance banner to the Vaiden Training Union assistant director, Ricky Randle, for having the highest per cent of Training Union members present. Fellowship and refreshments for all in attendance were had after the services were completed, in the Educational building. Beatty Club The Beatty Homemakers Extension Club met in the home of Mrs.

Thelma Cannon for their November meeting, with eight members present and one visitor, Mrs. William Cox. Mrs. Cannon gave the devotional and led the Lords Prayer. The group sang "Count your Blessings." Mrs.

Hilda Bennett read the minutes of the previous meeting and gave the roll call, with members answering with "What I am Thankful for." Plans were made for the bazaar to be held in Carrollton and also for the Christmas party at the next meeting. Ideas for Christmas decorations were displayed. The educational topic, "Community Resources Development," was given by Mrs. Edith Watkins. Mrs.

Cannon and Mrs. Cox served delicious refreshments. The club Christmas party and meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Bessie Cox. Academy personalities IH'imy Kihy, Mr.

C. Caldwell, Vaiden. On Thanksgiving Day everyone enjoyed the game between Miss. State and Ole Miss. Guests in the home of Mrs.

Alice Pierce during Thanksgiving were Mr. and Mrs. John C. Boggan and family of Tupelo, Miss Nora Pierce of Lexington, and Dr. Don Pierce of Greenwood, Miss.

We want to extend our sympathy to the relatives of Mrs. Oat Suddith who passed away recently. I'm sorry we did not know about this earlier. We would also like to extend sympathy to the relatives of Mr. George Hunsinger who passed away last week.

Both these families had friends and relatives here at Vaiden. Mr. and Mrs. R. L.

Brooks, Susy and Mike enjoyed most of the family being together Thanksgiving weekend. Those at home during that time were Mr. and Mrs. Gary Newton, Senatobia; Mr. and Mrs.

James Ray Brooks and family of Vicksburg; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rae and family of Canton; Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Lollar, Weir; and Mr.

and Mrs. Riley Brooks and family of Senatobia. Mann Rites James Woodrow Mann died November 14 at his home in Morgan City, Louisiana. He was 52, a resident of Morgan City and a native of Vaiden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Morgan City and a veteran of World War II.

Religious services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the McCleary Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. C. G. Wells and Rev.

John Par-ault. A prayer service was held at the First Baptist Church, Centerville, by Rev. Larry Mills. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, Centerville. Survivors are his wife, Mrs.

Hazel Mann; a son, Billy Joe Mann, Zachary, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ethel Netterville, Morgan City; his mother, Mrs. A. J. Mann, Vaiden.

Two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Mae Bingham and Mrs. Ruth Yates, Vaiden; and four grandchildren. Pallbearers were E. W.

Bingham, N. F. Yates, Haggard Yates, James Arinder, Sidney Owens, Earl Black, Bobby Joe Kirkland, Lonnie Landry, Richard Zaunbrecher, Wilson Brown, and honorary pallbearers were Curtis Netterville, Carlton Mann, Billy Whittington, Randy Hinson, Leslie Hughes, M. H. Hughes, and James Hodges.

"The Country Sound of Christmas" ALBUM Two students and a teacher were named "Personalities of the Month" for November at Winona Academy. The students were Janis Boyette and David Putman. Janis, a senior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.

H. Boyette, and is 17 years old. She attended Winona High School for 11 years and has been a member of Y-Teens, FHA, and the Glee Club. This year she is a prospective member of the Beta Club, and is assistant editor of the paper. David is also a senior, the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Harvey Put-man, Winona. He attended Winona High School for 11 years and had been a member of such clubs as Beta Club, FCA, and Hi-Y. This year he is a member of the Beta Club, Student Council, and is a varsity football player. David serves as president of the Beta Club and also is president of the Student Council.

He is vice-president of the senior class. The outstanding teacher is Coach George Hoppe. He is a 1969 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi, where he majored in biological science. At the academy, he is sponsor of the sophomore class and teaches physics, biology, chemistry, and eighth and ninth grade science. He also coaches high school football and junior high basketball.

His hobbies are golf and sports in general. He moved to Mississippi from Florida. Dinner guests of Mrs. Blanche Randle last Friday evening were Mr. and Mrs.

Maurice Ferguson and Tish, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Randle and children of Winona. Mr. and Mrs.

Billy Crook and children of Clinton were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Crook for the Thanksgiving holidays. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs.

Bobby Patterson, Denese and Kevin from Pine Bluff, Ark. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Holly and Candy of Charleston visited Mr. and Mrs.

Roy Rhine and Ronnie Sunday. Those visiting with Mr. and Mrs. J. T.

Gibson during Thanksgiving were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gibson and Mrs. Jimmie Utz and little son, James, of Kosciusko. Mrs.

Richard Carregan and children of Memphis, spent the holidays with Mrs. Houston Whisenant. Other guests of Mrs. Whisenant recently were Mr. and Mrs.

H. DeBerry and family also Mrs. Cortess DeBerry of Sarah Land, and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Whisenant of Jackson.

Mrs. Jessie Wilson joined her nephew, Mr. Jessie Armstrong, in Tupelo Sunday and went to his home in Huntsville, for several days visit with the Armstrong family. Mr. and Mrs.

Odell Lenard spent a while Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Jeffcoat at Pemberton Manor nursing home in Greenwood. We are certainly glad to hear that Mr. Edgar is back at the nursing home after being in the hospital for a while.

We hope he will soon be feeling much better. Guests of Mrs. A. C. Long during the Thanksgiving holidays were Mr.

and Mrs. Carl Long and family of Pittsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Lishman and Bill of Huntsville, and Miss Mary Louise Long of State College. On Saturday Mr.

and Mrs. Lynn Parker of Jackson, joined them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Parker are Mrs.

Carl Long's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Germany and Chuck of Houston, Texas, were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs.

Odell Lenard and Miss Hazel Lenard. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Caldwell and Wesley of Dallas, Texas, Miss Sarah Caldwell and Mr. John Long of Memphis, spent the Thanksgiving holidays with Mr.

and Mrs. M. C. Caldwell. On Friday Mr.

Arthur Clark of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. O. C. Caldwell, Vaiden joined them for the day. Mrs.

Hubert Hambrick, Mrs. Lois Farrish, Mrs. Alma Caldwell, Mrs. Maxine Welch, Mrs. Adell Montague, Mrs.

Hilda Bennett, attended the Bazaar at Carrollton Wednesday. Mrs. Belon Wood of Calhoun City, and Mr. Roy Williams, New Iberia, were visitors with Mr. and Mrs.

J. E. Farrish last Sunday. We were certainly glad to see Roy. He enjoyed some hunting while visiting his sister, Mrs.

Belon Wood, Mr. Wood and Don. Recent guests of Mrs. Ruth Pollard were Mr. and Mrs.

Randy Pollard and children of Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Howard Briscoe from Memphis and Vaiden has just returned from an extensive tour of the South Pacific area, and the islands, seeing many points of interest as the eight islands of Hanoie and Pearl Harbor. This trip was a joint venture of Braniff Aulenis and stockholders of Holiday Inns of America. Those gathering for the holidays on Thanksgiving eve at the Briscoe home place in Vaiden with Howard Briscoe, of Memphis, as host, were Mr.

and Mrs. C. L. Briscoe and David of Moss Point, Miss. Mr.

and Mrs. Gene Duffer, Sherri and Bubba of Memphis; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Briscoe and Janet of Moss Point; Mr. and Mrs.

II bum. u-a Black a Decker GIFT WRAP 12 Big. Wide Rolls Mrs. Lou Bronte Pyron, age 87, died November 30 at Tyler Holmes Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charlie A.

Pyron. Funeral services were held at li a.m., December 1 at Lee Funeral Home chapel, Revs. Robert Ellis and David Pratt officiating. Burial was in Oak-wood cemetery, Lee in charge. Mrs.

Pyron was a member of the Salem Methodist Church. She is survived by a son, Harvey Pyron, and a daughter, Mrs. Charlene Hays, both of Winona. Pallbearers were L. C.

Horton, Rickey Horton, Mike Tolbert, Jack Tolbert, Robert Pyron, and Jimmy Humphries. mm ISS-'lU'-Ml Jumbo Roll 99 I am so happy to report that some of our sick ones are home from the hospitals now. Johnnie Hightower, who has been in the Greenwood hospital so long, came home last week, but will have to return to the doctor every week for some time. John Milner is home from Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital but will be in for several months. He is able to be up for a few hours a day now.

Surely hope he will continue to improve and soon get able to be out and at work again. We miss him very much. Mrs. Hattie Doster is a patient at Riddell Nursing Home in Winona. If you have an opportunity stop by and visit with her.

Mrs. Billy Sanders is a patient at the Leflore County Hospital in Greenwood. We wish for her a speedy recovery. We were sorry to hear of the death of Martin Nelms of In-dianola, last week and extend our sympathy to the Nelms relatives here. He was a brother to Bryant Nelms, and also Ben James Nelms.

Interment was in the Vaiden cemetery. James Robye Read and children, Mike, Kieth, Robye Ann and Tina, of Birmingham, were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robye Read and Mr. Lawerence Tolar during the Thanksgiving holidays.

Other guests were Rev. and Mrs. John Read, Joy and little John from Lelanid on Thursday and Mrs. Lamar O'Briant and little granddaughter, Monty, of Webb, visited with them. Recent guests of Mrs.

Josie Mine hew and girls, Debbie and Karen, and Mrs. Ross, were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Moss, Kosciusko, and Mr. and Mrs.
