I would like to thank each of you for the cooperation and the support that you gave me during these ten years.

"I have tried to handle all of the business of this office in a fair and courteous way. "If I should miss talking with you between now and the August Primary, please consider me for your vote and support." Sincerely, R.W. "Pee Wee" Miller Certify fall-seeded acres at signup, says ASCS The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) is currently conducting signup for the 1979 feed grain and wheat programs. The signup period was lengthened recently from April 16 to April 30, to allow employees more time to process crop certifications. "This year, farmers may report their fall-seeded crops at signup and not have to make a separate visit to the county office," Grady L.

Vance said. Some farmers will also have seeded spring crops which they can report. The set-aside program offers other cases since that time. In questioning Charles Whitfield, Mr. Crull was told that Mr.

Lott was a much bigger man than the Winona attorney. When Crull asked if he was being threatened, Mr. Whitfield did not deny it, and Crull asked that the incident be recorded in the official record. Later, Whitfield said he had misunderstood Mr. Crull's line of questioning.

Judge Ellis dismissed the charge of simple assault with the explanation that because the affiant had dropped the charges of his own volition, and because of the city's policies on dropped charges, the charges could not constitutionally in this instance be reinstated. In his final remarks, Judge Ellis said the case had drawn excessive publicity because it involved a public official. "What happened out there has hurt everyone involved in some way," he concluded. Ed Davis, Jr. "I have a high school G.E.D.

"I believe with my educational and business dealings I can make you a good Justice Court Judge. I ask you now for your vote and support in the upcoming election." Sincerely, Ed Davis Jr.

Carrollton aldermen discuss water system construction The mayor and board of aldermen of the town of Carrollton met last Monday night for a precon-struction conference on the new water system. Representatives from Brown Steel, Herndon Well Supply, and Harrison Construction Company, the three contractors for the construction, were present to talk with the board and pave the way for work to begin within the next few days. Work orders have been issued and must be effective by March 5, and each of the companies indicated they would begin work soon. Contract time is approximately 180 days, and spokesmen were optimistic that the system would be completely installed and functioning by the end of the summer. Representatives were reassuring on the subject of the unavoidable inconvenience to the townspeople once the construction gets underway.

"We know, of course, there will be some problems; we'll accidently cut some existing water lines, and we'll have to cross some driveways," said Mr. Harrison of Harrison Construction, "but we're going to do our best to keep things going as smoothly as possible and cause as little inconvenience as possible." Mayor Harold Scruggs reiterated Mr. Harrison's feelings. "The board realizes that this is all going to be an inconvenience because water lines may be cut, the streets cut up, and driveways crossed, but if folks will just bear with us, we're going to keep the problems to a minimum, and before the summer is over we'll have the water system which is so badly needed." Harrison did not indicate where construction would begin, but he did say if the weather is rainy they will hfipin outside of town in order to Clarksdale served the groom as best man.
